LEADING SUCCESSFUL CHANGE EFFORTS [EPISODE 116]

Organizational change is a predictable process. In this episode, I talk about the change process. I provide an overview of John Kotter’s 8-step change process. Kotter is a Harvard professor and I use his books in both my undergrad and my graduate classes. This is the most practical guide to the change process.

When change efforts fail, it is also predictable, and it is likely the result of skipping the first step. If you will ever be involved in a change effort, you do not want to miss this episode.

The first episode covered leadership quotes by Jim Rohn. If you are unfamiliar with Jim Rohn, he is the father of the self-help motivational speaker circuit. Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, and Darren Hardy all attribute a good deal of their success to Jim Rohn.

Rohn passed away in 2009. In the episode, I talked with an old friend who is as close to a Jim Rohn expert as anyone out there. I brought him back to talk about Rohn’s primary topic—success. It is a great conversation. It is a very profitable conversation. It will change the way you think about being successful.

The long and the short is that working from home and video conferencing creates a new kind of tired. You need to know how to adjust if you are going to be productive and engaged at work and then be there for your friends and family.
